the girl with the
weight of the world on her shoulders
She found the Holy Grail
But it didn’t heal her
She had Merlin recite a spell
But it didn’t go well
She found her Prince
But he didn’t please her
She travelled
the world
In a hundred and eighty days
Worked herself into the ground
Morning, noon, and night
She studied everything she could
But learned nothing
She began to wonder
Was something wrong with her?
Why did she feel this way?
Would she always be?
Looking around this world
For something more
She’s the girl
With the weight of the world
On her shoulders
So, she closed her eyes
And dreamed herself away
Didn’t talk to anyone
For a year and a day
Just sat staring into space
As her life passed on by
People began to wonder
Was something wrong with her?
Why did she act this way?
Would she always be?
Hiding from this world
From something more
One rain
swept summers day
Looking out from her window pane
She thought she caught her image
Staring back in the dust strewn glass
And it said I am the part of you
That you’ve been trying to feed
You’ve given me everything except what I need
For the answers to all your questions
Drop your defences and look inside your heart
The girl with the weight of the world
On her shoulders
She threw out the trash
Got shot of all the crap
Cleared out her closet
Her cupboards and draws
Created herself a space
And lifted the weight
